Weather warning: Snow and gale-force winds expected in Mid Ulster

Some parts of Mid Ulster could get a covering of snow on Friday evening, as temperatures take a plunge with stormy conditions forecast.

According to the Met Office, who have a Yellow Warning in place, outbreaks of rain on Friday will increasingly turn to sleet, hail and snow during the afternoon.

“Feeling cold late afternoon as the winds turn to a strong to gale northwesterly. Maximum Temperature 7°C.

“Tonight: Strong to gale northerly winds pushing increasingly wintry showers south across the area during the evening, these mainly across Londonderry and Antrim, before showers and winds both ease gradually overnight. Minimum Temperature 1°C.

“Saturday: Mainly dry and bright, but windy and cold start with temperatures struggling to rise. From mid-day cloudier skies and scattered, locally wintry, showers will gradually spread from the west. Maximum Temperature 6°C.”
