Beaches at Portstewart were declared dangerous and closed amid reports that a small number of people were almost washed into the stormy sea.

In Benone, the beach was also closed as police prevented sightseers from placing themselves in danger.

This short video taken by Graham Warke, who was visiting from Londonderry, shows the power of the waves at Portrush.

His video captures one of the waves striking the shelter at Ramore Head.
