Webb takes a stand against animal cruelty

THE Alliance Party's North Belfast general election candidate, Billy Webb, has pledged his support for Vote Cruelty Free - a new non-partisan coalition of animal protection organisations working to put animals on the political agenda.

It is understood that the Newtownabbey councillor is the first candidate in any Northern Ireland constituency to pledge to ‘Vote Cruelty Free’.

“I am delighted to support Cruelty Free. As an animal lover I detest the animal cruelty often seen on our television screens. Experimentation on animals, use of animals in unnatural acts for entertainment, and the killing of animals as a so-called ‘sport’ are barbaric,” he said.

The Vote Cruelty Free coalition comprises several different organisations, including Compassion in World Farming and League Against Cruel Sports.
