WELB paid £825k to agencies

THE Western Education and Library Board (WELB) paid £825k to recuitment agencies over the past three years, the Education Minister John O’Dowd has revealed.

The sum was paid in relation to full time posts across WELB between 2008 and 2011.

The figure dropped from £347k in 2008/9 to £275k in 2009/10 and further to £203k in 2010/11.

Mr O’Dowd stated that the amounts were paid to recruitment agencies for full time posts in each of the last three financial years.

During the same period the Western Health and Social Care Trust spent a total of £26,994 on agencies during the same three year period.
