Welcome boost for area

Craigavon councillors have welcomed the announcement of a new £22.5 million campus for SRC.

UUP’s Kenneth Twyble was excited at the prospect of the new campus, adding that it “could have an impact on the whole Dickson situation”.

Sinn Fein Councillor Tommy O’Connor said it was “fantastic news”.

He said a site in Central Craigavon coupled with other recent developments and the new leisure centre that is earmarked for the area “could speed up the need for a train station in Craigavon”.

Carla Lockhart of the DUP told council she was a product of the technical college and was delighted to see them moving forward.

The SDLP’s Joe Nelson said: “I’m glad to see there is going to be significant investment in vocational education.”

The location of the new campus is yet to be decided.
