Welcome drop in local jobless total
The number of local people out of work and claiming benefits dropped by 2.1 per cent during April, according to the government’s latest figures.
The Newtownabbey jobless total now stands at 2,312 - 1,660 men and 652 women. That represents a reduction of 50 people (2.1 per cent) from the previous month, and a 0.2 per cent decrease over the past year.
