Welcome for £427,000 park revamp

Plans to spend £427.000 revamping local parks have been welcomed.

Sinn Fein Councillor Liam Mackle has welcomed the planned £250,000 revamp for the play area in Lurgan Park and the £177,000 investment secured for Victoria St Park.

Speaking following this weeks council committee meeting Councillor Mackle said: “Play is a fundamental aspect of child development, these commitments, as part of the councils new play strategy, show council’s commitment to our children.”

Councillor Keith Haughian, who represents the area has also welcomed this announcement: “This investment, particularly in Allenhill Park, is long overdue. Related to this the Sinn Féin team are now urging council to provide lighting throughout Lurgan Park so as it is a welcoming and safe park for all - all year round.”
