'Well done' to Marie Curie group

MEMBERS of the Marie Curie Cancer Care Larne fundraising group have been officially recognised for their magnificent efforts over the past decade.

To mark their commitment and enthusiasm to this very worthy cause, they received an exceptional fundraising award at the charity’s national volunteer achievement awards held at Haberdashers’ Hall in London.

It was a fitting tribute to the group which celebrated 10 years of fundraising last year. Many of the founding members are still involved, including Eleanor Greenlees, who has been chairperson since 1999. To date the group have raised over 200,000 in the Larne area.

“Support from volunteers like Larne fundraising group means the charity can continue to raise funds to provide nursing care for terminally ill people and support for their loved ones.”

Members of the group received a specially commissioned Caithness Glass paperweight and certificate at the special awards presentation ceremony.
