‘We’re dealing with drugs head on’ says police chief

THE police are dealing with drugs head on according to the PSNI Lisburn Area Commander, chief Inspector Darrin Jones.

CI Jones was speak after £10,000 worth of drugs were seized in Knockmore estate last week.

On Wednesday morning police seized herbal cannabis worth an estimated £10,000 during searches in the Knockmore Park estate on Wednesday morning.

Four properties at Ballyknocken Park, Hertford Crescent and Begney Walk were searched by officers under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a number of drugs offences while a 26 year old man was detained on suspicion of money laundering.

Arrangements have been made to speak to a third man, aged 47 at a later date regarding alleged drug offences.

Area Commander said, “We have listened to community concern regarding drug dealing and drug use in Knockmore Park and these searches reflect the PSNI’s commitment to tackling the issue head on.

“We have taken a significant quantity of illegal drugs off the streets today and made this community just that bit safer. We will continue to challenge those involved in the supply of illegal drugs, arrest them, charge them and bring them before the courts.”
