Wet and warm December
December was warmer, wetter and slightly sunnier than average, according to Armagh Observatory.
The average monthly temperature was approximately 6.7 degrees Celsius, nearly two degrees warmer than the most recent 30-year (1981-2010) December average.
This was the warmest December for 25 years. There were 20 nights with grass frost and none with air frost.
