Kim Davies, founder of Victoriana Floral hosted a tea and coffee morning on February 10 in aid of the Carrickfergus-based group.

The charity, which provides support for people dealing with cancer in the surrounding area (BT36-BT40), relies on fundraising to ensure that they can help local people, especially those who have been unable to obtain support from other charities as a result of means testing.

Set up to ensure that people have access to support locally with no means testing policies, 1 in 3 last year provided contact and support to over 200 local people dealing with cancer and is managed and run entirely by volunteers.

Free tea and coffee were provided on the day along with sweet treats.

Kim also balloted a fabulous bouquet of flowers, won by Tracy Gilpin.

"As per usual the community spirit of Whitehead shone through with local people dropping by with further donations of tray bakes and other goodies," said Karen.

“On behalf of 1 in 3 we would like to thank Kim Davies for her generosity and support of the charity. Every penny is going to help people you know - your neighbours, friends and family, your community - as they deal with a cancer diagnosis, so no-one fights alone."
