Whitehead golf club refused costs for wind turbine appeal

The Planning Appeals Commission has refused to award costs to Whitehead Golf Club after it lodged an appeal against the refusal of planning permission for a 41.9 metre wind turbine on McCreas Brae.

The club had asked that the PAC should consider awarding compensation “in the event that the appeal is successful and it is ultimately established that the actions of the Mid and East Antrim Borough Council have resulted in financial loss to the golf club.”

However, the PAC said that the club “did not present any persuasive evidence to substantiate why they considered the council’s behaviour is unreasonable.”

It added that it was not persuaded that the appeal had “resulted in unnecessary expense” for the club.
