Whitehead walking art trail is set to return

Following a succesful run last year, the Whitehead Walking Art Trail returns this weekend.

The event takes place this Saturday (August 1) from 10am until 5pm, and Sunday (August 2) from 2pm until 5pm.

The event has been organised to coincide with the Whitehead Community Festival, and will feature a number of artistic styles and skills.

Some of the artistic skills which will be on display include textiles, fine art, jewellery, ceramics, slate art, couture gowns, costume and millinery.

There will be leaflets available in shops, businesses and from the Whitehead Community Association, which provide information on the locations involved in the event.

All of the venues will be within walking distance in the town centre.

Members of the public can visit the venues which will have a poster displayed at their entrance.

Artist Joanne Campbell, who will have work on display throughout the event, has stressed the importance of bringing art to the people of the area.

“Visitors may be inspired to take up a new interest and in so doing discovetr that they have a hidden talent,” she said.

“There has been an increased interest in art and craft in Whitehead the opening of The Gallery Whitehead, The Bank House, Lighthouse Yarns, The Front Room, Lucy Lynn and Victoria Floral,” Joanne said.
