Who is your Mid Ulster sporting hero?

Tens of thousands of people across the province have already enjoyed the Ulster Sports Museum Associations’ travelling exhibition, ‘Celebrating the past – Inspiring our future’, which highlights all that is memorable within Ulster sport.

This rich and diverse sporting heritage is now easily accessible to those in Mid-Ulster for the first time as it will be displayed in the Burnavon Arts and Cultural Centre, Cookstown during this coming February.

The touring exhibition created by the Association looks at a range of local sports and sporting heroes and celebrates Ulster’s past sporting achievements. Designed to inspire the youth of the future, this exhibition highlights all that is memorable within Ulster sport. It also allows the general public to provide feedback and comment about their sporting heroes and memorable sporting moments. Displays of household names in the fields of soccer, GAA, rugby and boxing (such as Joey Dunlop, George Best, and Dame Mary Peters to name but a few) will be shown alongside material representing some of Mid Ulster’s best known sports people including Peter Canavan and Wendy Houvenaghel.
