Who is your Mid Ulster sporting hero?

This rich and diverse sporting heritage is now easily accessible to those in Mid-Ulster for the first time as it will be displayed in the Burnavon Arts and Cultural Centre, Cookstown during this coming February.

The touring exhibition created by the Association looks at a range of local sports and sporting heroes and celebrates Ulster’s past sporting achievements. Designed to inspire the youth of the future, this exhibition highlights all that is memorable within Ulster sport. It also allows the general public to provide feedback and comment about their sporting heroes and memorable sporting moments. Displays of household names in the fields of soccer, GAA, rugby and boxing (such as Joey Dunlop, George Best, and Dame Mary Peters to name but a few) will be shown alongside material representing some of Mid Ulster’s best known sports people including Peter Canavan and Wendy Houvenaghel.

As part of preparations for the exhibition, the Burnavon is asking residents of Mid-Ulster to let them know who their local sporting hero is.

If you would like to nominate a local professional or amateur sports person, then email [email protected] with the name and reason why, or log on to the Burnavon’s Facebook Page (search ‘the Burnavon Theatre’) to post your nomination and reason.

Admission to the exhibition is free and it runs until Friday 28th February.
