WI meeting an eye opener for ladies

DERRIAGHY: There was a good turnout for the Derriaghy WI January meeting when the President welcomed members and speakers Kathryn McCamley and Katie Leach.

The subject was visual awareness training with the talk focusing on opening our eyes and being more confident on meeting, helping and talking to a blind or partially blind person.

The speakers enlightened the ladies on some of the eye conditions that could affect any one of us and how it would affect our vision.

The competition for a glasses case was won by Mrs Jennifer Murray, with Mrs Moira Dowie in second place. The January Birthday girl was Mrs Marie Darragh with raffles being won by Mrs Violet Taylor and Mrs Rose Hilland.
