WI Walk at Giant’s Causeway

THE sun shone on the “WI Women Walk the World’ at the Giant’s Causeway recently.

The National Trust team at the Giant’s Causeway warmly welcomed the Women’s Institutes (WI) to Northern Ireland’s only World Heritage Site on Saturday afternoon.

Thelma and Jill, National Trust volunteer guides, led the two groups to the Causeway Stones telling all the local myths and legends of Finn McCool. The women members of Armoy, Ballintoy, Ballymoney, Bushmills, Mosside and Portrush WI’s from Riada Area were represented as well as Ballyrashane WI from Lower Bann Area.

A member from Carnlough WI, great supporters of Associated Countrywomen of the World Organisation (ACWW), came on the Causeway Rambler bus to take part in the Walk and spent the afternoon at the new National Trust centre before returning on the Causeway Rambler. Margaret McMillan Area Chairperson of Riada Area Women’s Institute thanks the Trust for facilitating our Walk at the Causeway.
