Will Cathy win top teaching award?

HAVING already won the regional title of The Award for Teacher of the Year in a Secondary School, pupils from Dominican College in Portstewart are asked once again rallying support for their teacher Cathy McGowan, as she waits to find out if she has been successful at the National Pearson Teaching Awards.

Anticipation is building in Portstewart as Cathy McGowan’s pupils find out if they are being taught by a ‘Pearson Teacher of the Year’ on Sunday, October 28 when the ceremony is broadcast on BBC2.

Hosted this year by Clare Balding, the annual Pearson Teaching Award ceremony will be held in London at a star studded event. There, the shortlisted teachers will compete for the coveted Pearson Plato Award.

Cathy was nominated by past and present pupils from Dominican College and parents following receiving a record number of special Thank You messages posted on www.thankateacher.co.uk.
