Wilson bewitches Linen Hall audience with Ulster Scots reading of Macbeth

Acclaimed Londonderry poet Wilson Burgess recently bewitched an audience at the Linen Hall Library with his Ulster Scots reading of Shakespeare's Macbeth alongside other writers and storeytellers including Glenn Patterson, Roma Tomelty, Tim McGarry, Anne Devlin and Billy Teare.

Wilson was taking part in a 12 hour ‘readathon’ to help raise funds for what’s been a cultural hub for Belfast and Northern Ireland for over 227 years.

He read from Act 1, Scene 1, of his recent Ulster Scots adaptation of perhaps, Shakespeare’s best known tragedy.

The Aghadowey native’s award-winning poetry has been added to academic reading lists, is a regular contributer to Ulster Scots and other programming on regional radio and reads at Ulster Scots events up and down the country on a regular basis.
