Local Ulster Unionist Cllr Darryl Wilson addressed the Leisure and Development committee of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council on Tuesday evening calling for a signature event to be held in Ballymoney on an annual basis.

Cllr Wilson said: “In years gone past Ballymoney enjoyed events such as the “Summer fair” where the streets were filled with stalls and music, we also enjoyed the annual “Mayor’s show “ which was supported by numerous organisations and clubs from Ballymoney and beyond.”

“My aim is to see a large signature event return to Ballymoney to add to the existing council programme. The event should provide entertainment for local people, allow local clubs, communities and organisations to take part, while increasing town trade and tourism.

“I have been engaging with different stakeholders over the last 18 months to take on board their ideas on what would be suitable and practical for the Town, I will feedback information to council officers with a view to building and organising an event which everyone can buy into and benefit from.”
