Wilson praises Rural Support Roadshow

Causeway Coast and Glens Ulster Unionist Cllr Darryl Wilson has praised the work of Rural Support after attending their local Roadshow.

Local farmers, residents, politicians and businesses were invited to attend the ‘Rural Support Roadshow ‘Call to Action’ in Coleraine Town Hall last week.

Cllr Wilson said: “The Roadshow and signposting initiative has enabled the Rural Support charity to meet with local stakeholders to demonstrate the useful support services which are on offer in each specific area through the charity’s dedicated helpline and mentoring programmes.

“Rural Support can offer assistance and guidance to local farmers. Many challenging issues arise for our farming community including levels of debt, paper work, health problems, severe weather and changing family circumstances, all of these issues can cause increased anxiety and stress.

“Thankfully Rural Support offer a listening and signposting service for farmers and rural families across Northern Ireland.

“They can provide face to face support, help and advice about business finance and debt, single farm payments, benefits, mental health assistance and many other issues. “
