Cllr Wilson, who is also a member of the local Policing and Community Safety Partnership, said: “I am aware in recent months that animals have been stolen from farms in the Ballyclare and Larne area.

“In the last few weeks, I have also been advised that suspicious activity has taken place in rural Carrickfergus, which I have passed on to the local PSNI.

“The best way to combat rural crime is to make regular checks on your livestock, to look out for your neighbours and if you notice something suspicious, then report it to the PSNI.”
