Wind turbine applicationrefused

A PLANNING application for a wind turbine on the Ballyclough Road, Lisburn was refused at the recent Planning Committee meeting.

The proposal by Aircore Ballyclough Road Ltd, was for the erection of a wind turbine with a 30m hub height and 30m rotor diameter, with a maximum output not exceeding 250KW, 400m east of 16 Ballyclough Road, Lisburn.

The application, which received one objection, was refused by planners because “the proposed development is contrary to Policy RE 1 of Planning Policy Statement 18 as it would cause an unacceptable impact by reason of noise and shadow flicker,” it would, “cause and unacceptable impact on aviation safety,” and it would, “cause an unacceptable impact on telecommunication systems.”
