Windows of school bus blow out in gales

A total of 40 pupils from Dunluce School in Bushmills were on board at the time but were unhurt in the incident which happened as the bus journeyed from Portrush to the school.

The bus was making its way around the storm-lashed coast when the wind caused the two front windows to blow out.

Thankfully, the windows blew outwards and none of the pupils was hurt in the incident.

A spokesperson from Translink confirmed to the Times on Friday that the pupils were taken to school after the incident in another vehicle.

“The Ulsterbus school service travelling to Dunluce school in Bushmills from Portrush on Thursday December 5th was hit by a gust of wind causing the two front windows of the double deck vehicle to fall outwards,” said the spokesperson.

“There were around 40 pupils on board at the time and they were transferred onwards to school on another vehicle.

“No injuries were sustained and Translink has been in 
ongoing contact with the school principal since the 
incident.”
