Winds gusts of up to 52mph an hour battering Mid Ulster

Although it feels like your house might just take off at any minute and land in Kansas, Mid Ulster, and indeed Northern Ireland, has not been included in the Met Office’s yellow warning for gale force winds.

Despite this, the area is experiencing wind gusts up to 52mph, so be careful out there as blustery showers are expected throughout the evening.

But, some good news as the southwesterly winds are to subside overnight, at least in Cookstown.

Storm Abigail has the potential to cause some disruption to the north of the UK and yellow and amber National Severe Weather Warnings have been issued for a risk of impacts from wind across parts of Scotland.
