Winners announced in children’s competition

THE creative talents of Carrick’s younger residents have been praised with the announcement of the winners and runners-up of the Carrickfergus in Bloom Children’s Painting and Poetry Competitions.

Announcing the winners, Chairperson of the Parks, Countryside and Amenities Sub-Committee Alderman May Beattie said: “The response from our young people has been extraordinary with hundreds of entries to judge. I am thrilled about the quality and diversity of the entries; it has been an opportunity for me to see the wealth and variety of artistic talent in our community.”

Winners and runners-up will be invited to receive their certificates and prizes at a prize-giving ceremony at the end of October in Carrickfergus Town Hall.

The winners were:

Children’s Painting Competition 15 and under

Runner-Up: Chloe Matheson

Runner-Up: Eve Bankhead

Children’s Painting Competition 10 and under

Winner: Sophie Creighton

Runner-Up: Amy Milnes

Runner-Up: Billy-Jo McClure

Children’s Poetry Competition

Winner: Kathryn Howard

Runner-Up: William Clarke

Runner-Up: Olivia Moore
