Winter preparation assurances sought

A GROUP of Alliance Party representatives met with Road Services officials recently to make sure the department is ready to cope with ice and snow if severe winter weather hits the borough.

The delegation included David Ford MLA, Cllr Billy Webb, Cllr John Blair, Cllr Lynn Frazer and Cllr Pat McCudden.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Mr Ford said: “We have called on Roads Service officials to make sure preparations have been made in the event of ice and snow.

“The gritting of roads is an important issue for local businesses and residents

“It assists shoppers during a busy period and is an important road safety issue.”

Cllr Webb added: “It is important to work hard and prepare in advance for the eventuality of severe cold weather. I was pleased to receive assurances from officials that our concerns were taken on board.”
