Witness against Omagh bomb accused ordered to appear at Dunganon Court despite safety fears

District Judge Liam McNally made the ruling at Omagh Magistrates Court.

And even though he acknowledged Dennis O’Connor’s fears for his and the safety of his family, the Ulster Herald reported that he did not give any weight to suggestions appearing in person would diminish his evidence.

Seamus Daly, who’s originally from Monaghan but has given his address as Jonesborough in Armagh, has been charged with the murder of the 29 people who died in the Omagh bomb in 1998.

Magistrates will decide next week whether he is to be committed for trial at Crown Court.
