The bannerette is quite distinctive as it features Nurse Laura Marion Gailey, of Voluntary Aid Detachment, who died of pneumonia on March 24, 1917, at the City Hospital, Fazakerley, Liverpool.

Daughter of William Gailey, stationer, and Margaret Elizabeth Gailey, 6, Bayview Terrace, Londonderry, Miss Gailey was one of the first Voluntary Aid Detachment nurses to volunteer and contracted measles and then pneumonia, which proved fatal.

Miss Gailey is the only female commemorated on the City of Londonderry War Memorial at The Diamond.

The bannerette will be on display at the Twelfth this year too.
