Danielle Donaldson, Flush Park, Lisburn, has admitted driving without insurance and a vehicle test certificate on November 17 last year.

The court heard that police received a report of a car driving off from the Eurospar on the Gilpinstown Road without paying for fuel but this turned out not to be the case. The car was registered to the defendant and when police called at her home address she admitted driving without insurance or a test certificate.

Mr Conor Downey, representing the defendant, said there had been a marked improvement in her behaviour.

He explained she had been living in the Simon Community since January and reports he had received about her were of a positive nature.

Mr Downey added that there was an outstanding matter against her to be dealt with at the end of April involving public order and assault matters.

He said that it had been listed as a contest but the prosecution has been told to cancel all witnesses and it would be a plea. Mr Downey added that Donaldson accepted she did not have insurance and did not try to avoid detection when she spoke to the police. She has since been disqualified.

“There does appear to have been a marked change in her behaviour,” he told the court.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, adjourned sentencing until April 27 and asked for a pre-sentence report.
