Woman damaged ex-partner’s car in a ‘fit of rage’

Twenty-nine-year-old Aislinn Creaney, whose address was given to the court as James Street, Lurgan, was sentenced to three months in prison, suspended for 12 months, on each of three charges of criminal damage on December 6 last year.

A one month term, also suspended but to run consecutively making four months in total, was imposed for disorderly behaviour.

The court heard that police received a report of a car being damaged at Carnreagh in Craigavon and when they arrived they saw the defendant who was shouting and swearing.

There was blood on her hands and face.

The court was told that the injured party said Creaney had attacked his car, damaged a bathroom window and damaged his partner’s car.

Creaney continued to be disorderly and had to be handcuffed.

A solicitor representing the defendant said she had been in a relationship with the injured party and this had ended a short time before this incident took place.

She explained that it had been a ‘quite fractious’ relationship and that Creaney would claim she was subjected to domestic abuse.

The solicitor added that Creaney had gone to collect some personal property but her ex-partner would not come out.

Under the influence of alcohol and in a fit of rage she reacted, the solicitor told the court.
