Woman drove after argument

Driving off after an argument with her partner led to a 45-year-old woman getting a 12-month driving ban at Banbridge Magistrates Court.

Shirley Dickson, Kilkinamurry Road, Ballyward, was also fined £100 for driving with excess alcohol.

The court heard police came across a car stopped in the middle of the road at Katesbridge Road, Banbridge on January 25. There was a smell of alcohol from the defendant’s breath and an evidential test gave a reading of 62.

Her solicitor said the defendant - who had a clear record - had an argument and drove off. She realised she should not have been driving and pulled in before calling her partner.

Deputy District Judge Chris Holmes said this was a one-off blemish on an impeccable record.
