Woman freed from car at Co Armagh crash

A woman who was trapped in her car following a road traffic accident outside Lurgan has been released.

It is understood two crews from the NI Fire and Rescue Service were called to free the woman.

A spokesperson for the NI Fire and Rescue Service said: “Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) received a call at 9:49am to a report of a one vehicle road traffic collision at the Derryhirk Road, Annaghdroghal area of Lurgan this morning (Tuesday 19th January).

“Two Fire Appliances from Lurgan Fire Station and one Fire Appliance from Crumlin Fire Station were deployed to the scene. One woman was released by firefighters from a car in the area. The female has been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment to her injuries.

“Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service finished at the scene at 10:48am.”

A spokesperson for the NI Ambulance Service said one crew and one doctor attended the scene.

The accident happened between the Derryhirk Inn and the Crannagh Bridge just outside Aghagallon.

Only one vehicle was involved in the incident which happened at 9.45am this morning.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police in Craigavon received a report of a one vehicle road traffic collision on Derryhirk Road at 9.48am on Tuesday, 19 January involving a blue Ford Focus. Emergency Services attended.

A female driver sustained injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.”
