Woman hospitalised afterbeing thrown onto city road

A woman was hospitalised after being thrown onto a road in Londonderry in broad daylight last month.

Police in the city are appealing for witnesses following the assault in the Rosemount/Creggan Road Roundabout area.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Sometime between 7.30pm to 8pm on Saturday, July 16 a 30 year old female was assaulted and later attended hospital for treatment to her injuries.

“The assailant is described as a man, aged in his late 30s and of an average build.

“The man had short dark hair which was greying and was worn in a quiff. He was wearing a dark blue jumper and jeans. This male approached the female from behind and pushed her into the road where she fell and landed on her arm.

“We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the assault to contact Strand Road Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 750 of 9/8/16. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
