Woman in court as purse theft is thwarted

Police have praised a City Watch CCTV operator who observed a female rummaging through a purse on Antrim Street, Lisburn on Saturday

The operator observed this female remove items from the purse before an item was discarded into a bin nearby.

Police later located a purse in this bin and the female involved was traced to Lisburn train station.

A lady later reported her purse had been stolen from her bag in Bow Street Mall.

The purse contained a driving licence which confirmed it belonged to the lady who had her purse stolen.

Money which she had recently withdrawn was missing.

The female suspect was arrested on suspicion of theft and a quantity of cash seized from her.

This female appeared today, Monday 9th May at Lisburn Magistrates court charged for theft in relation to this incident.

She was remanded into custody.
