Woman killed in Belfast Road crash named

The woman who died after a serious crash on the Belfast Road, Carrickfergus last night has been named as Heather Steele.

She was 53 years old and from the Carrickfergus area.

Two other men have been taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

Chief Inspector Natalie Wilson said: “Shortly before 8.00pm, a collision occurred between a green Suzuki Ingis and a black Seat Leon.

“I would appeal to anyone who saw either car in the area or who witnessed the collision to contact the Collision Investigation Unit at Steeple Police Station or local police at Carrickfergus Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.”

The Belfast Road, which was closed overnight, has since been reopened.
