Woman killed on Moneymore to Cookstown road named locally as Bernie McNicholl

The woman who died in a one vehicle crash on the Moneymore to Cookstown road has been named locally as Bernadette McNicholl.

It is understood that Ms McNicholl was from Moneymore, and she was originally from the Derrylaughan area of Coalisland.

The accident occurred at approximately 2.30am on Sunday.

Inspector Andrew Hood said: “I appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw anyone walking on the Moneymore Road, Cookstown between 2 am and 2.30 am or has any information in relation to the accident, to please contact us at Cookstown on 101.”

Mid Ulster councillor Malachy Quinn expressed his shock.

“Two families have been torn apart in the most devastating circumstances,” he said.

“On behalf of the entire Mid-Ulster team, I would like to express our sympathy, and our prayers are with the families as they come to terms with their loss.”
