Her attacker is described as being around 6 foot in height and of medium build. His face was covered by a red scarf and he wore a black hoodie style top. The hoodie may have had a zipper running up the front. He is believed to have acted alone during the incident.

The attacker made off with a black fringed leather handbag containing a purple purse with gold clasp, a Samsung digital camera and other personal items including bank cards. Detectives would like to speak with anyone who can assist them with their investigation.

Describing the attack as ‘cowardly’, Neighbourhood Inspector Ian Armour said: “This was a cowardly attack. My officers are determined to bring the offender before the courts.

“However, please remember that the incident is isolated and robbery rates in the town are low. People should always be aware of their personal security when they are out and about late at night.”
