Woman rescued after falling at Causeway

A 36-year-old woman had to be rescued after an incident at the Giant’s Causeway on Sunday.

The woman slipped while out walking on the stones at the Causeway, near the water.

Coastguard teams from Coleraine and Ballycastle and Ambulance Service crews were called to the scene after the alarm was raised by a Ranger at the, shortly after 8.40am.

They stretchered the woman away and brought her to hospital with a suspected fractured leg.

Coastguard crews said the rescue operation had been difficult, due to the closeness to the sea front, and urged anyone out walking to be very careful as the stones can be slippery.
