Woman treated for smoke inhalation after arson attack

Police are investigating an arson attack at a house in the Glenmount Road area near Abbeycentre on Sunday night, September 28.

Commenting on the incident, Detective Inspector David Skelly said: “At approximately 11.30pm police received a report that a window of a house had been broken and petrol poured into the premises. The petrol was subsequently ignited.

“Sectarian graffiti was also painted onto the side of the house.

“The female occupant of the house was taken to hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation.”

DI Skelly appealed for anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area, or who has any information about the attack, to contact officers at Newtownabbey Station on the non emergency number, 101, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
