Woman who called police to incident was arrested

A BALLYMENA woman who had called police to report a town centre incident ended up being arrested herself, the local Magistrates Court was told.

Patricia O’Hara (23), of no fixed abode, was given a suspended two month prison sentence after admitting a charge of disorderly behaviour.

The court was told that police tasked to an incident at Pat’s Brae on October 7, established that the defendant had made the call.

O’Hara and another party, who had been having a dispute in view of the public, were advised to go on their way but the defendant continued to act in an abusive manner towards police.

Solicitor Stewart Ballentine said: “If she had accepted the advice given, she would not be before the court.”
