Women Into History group

A GROUP of female history enthusiasts recently celebrated ten years in existence that has been spent filling in gaps in their knowledge.

Set up in September 1999, Women Irish History meets every Monday in the Workhouse Museum in the Waterside.

Initiated by Jeanette Warke, perhaps best known for her youth work in the Fountain estate, Women Into Irish History have published four books, made a CD on the history of The Diamond, and a quilt called The Pathway of Life.

"Over the years the group have developed strong bonds with each other as well as having a better understanding of each others culture and heritage, working towards a shared future."
