Women released on bail

TWO women have been arrested and released on bail following the theft of a car in the Greenmount area, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A 26-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of taking and driving away and driving whilst unfit. A second woman, who is 19, was also arrested on suspicion of taking and driving away.

The pair have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

The arrests follow a car theft from a house at Fernhill Crescent at 2.45am on Sunday morning.

The car was later found in the Pates Lane area where it had collided with a pole and went on fire. One resident in a nearby residential home had to be relocated to another part of the home as a precaution.

Police are appealing for information about this crime. Anyone with information is asked to contact Coleraine PSNI station on 0845 600 8000.
