Women Wise project complete

The second 12 week programme of the Women Wise project is now complete and has been such a huge success!

The health and wellbeing programme culminated with a luxurious Spa day, with the participants receiving treatments and celebrating achievements over a glass of bubbly and some nibbles, followed by a lovely homemade lunch and celebratory cake.

Women Wise is a health and wellbeing programme, funded through Big Lottery Peoples Milllions, and facilitated by local charity CAN.

Both 12 week programmes have been hugely successful, with up to 30 ladies from the local community taking part in each programme. Siobhan Lyttle, Project Coordinator for Women Wise said: “This has been an amazing programme, and has been so beneficial to each and every one of the ladies who have taken part. Not only have they gained valuable information from each session, but the group bonded and some really good friendships have begun.

“I would like to say a special thanks to all of the Workshop Facilitators, who helped to deliver some key information to the ladies, Ballymoney Community Resource Centre, Family Planning Association, Lifeline, Northern Health & Social Care Trust, PSNI, Cancer Focus NI, Deirdre Norton (Dental Hygienist), Sinead Bond (Community Pharmacist, Boots), Oasis Causeway, and Citizens Advice Bureau. Part of this cohort of the programme involved a “Ladies Night” hosted by the Royal British Legion, Ballymoney, and was attended by various local crafters and exhibitors. We would again like to extend our thanks to all who attended and donated raffle prizes.

“I would also like to thank all of the activity facilitators for providing such enjoyable and interactive activities with the group, and also Springwell Manor Health Farm for treating us so well and facilitating such a fantastic celebration event. This project was made possible by the Big Lottery Peoples Millions, and I would like to extend a sincere thanks to all of those who voted for Women Wise as so many women within the local community have benefited from this.

CAN would like to offer a huge thanks to all involved in delivering such a successful programme. If you would like any more information about CAN or any of our projects, please contact the Director Janet on 028 2766 9030.
