

The school is the proud winner of the coveted shield after winning the league.
A spokesperson for the school said: “Woodburn Primary School is very proud of each and every one on the football team as they have trained very hard, played well in their matches and gained the points to win the league.”

Eight schools take part in the Carrickfergus and District Primary Schools Football Association.
Last year’s winner was St. Nicholas’ Primary School.
This is the first year that Woodburn Primary has won the shield since it was awarded in 2009.

Meanwhile, the school has planning permission for a new £3 million seven classroom building as well as a multi-purpose hall and carpark.
The new building will be situated on the playing fields behind the current building.
The application was granted by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council’s planning committee in November.
