Woodburn PSlobby success

East Antrim MLA Alastair Ross has expressed delight at the announcement that Woodburn Primary is to get a new building.

The DUP representative visited the school back in December and examined the inadequate conditions of the existing building.

Mr Ross said: “Having visited the school last year and raised the issue at the Assembly it is great to see the announcement about Woodburn Primary. Local representatives worked together on lobbying the minister and it has clearly proved to have been successful.

“This is a good local school that can now continue to serve the local community and educate young pupils in a much better environment than they have to deal with at present.”

Woodburn Primary School is getting a £3m new-build as part of a £170m investment by the Department of Education. At present there is only one permanent classroom with the majority of the 190 pupils taught in mobile buildings. The investment follows a long-running campaign.
