Woodland kitchens wins £2m deal

Woodland Kitchens, Rasharkin, has secured business worth around £2 million in Great Britain following its participation with Invest Northern Ireland at a major trade exhibition in London.

The contract, the biggest-ever won by the company, a specialist in the design, manufacture and assembly of quality kitchen cabinets as well as bedroom and bathroom units, came from participation in the KBB Exhibition in London, UK’s largest trade show for kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms.

Invest NI Trade Director, Dr Vicky Kell, said: “This is very good news for a company which has been involved in a number of business growth initiatives.

“Invest NI is proactively assisting this important industry to overcome the current difficulties in the local housing market and access the opportunities that are still developing in Great Britain and further afield.

“Not only is the exhibition a magnet for construction companies and retail buyers, it also attracts architects and contract design specialists. The show is an ideal networking event that gives exhibitors and buyers a very effective route to gain new business.”

Brian McCloskey, Managing Director, Woodland Kitchens, said: “This is immensely important business for us in Great Britain, which is becoming a key growth market for the business and one which offers substantial opportunities in both short and long terms.

“We secured the business, which is with a major national distributor, because of our design led partnership approach.

“We worked with their product development and procurement team to bring together a range of cutting edge designs that surpassed their customers expectations.

“Our aim is to double our turnover by 2015, and the best way to achieve this is by investing time and other resources on building relationships in Britain and other markets including the Netherlands and Saudi Arabia.

“Invest NI’s support for our growth strategy is invaluable.

“We’ve been encouraged and supported to expand and improve production, create new jobs and design a new range of high-end kitchens for domestic and international markets.”
