The 750-metre path will run between the town and Craigadick Park and Ride and will take around six weeks to complete , according to Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy.

Ulster Unionist Party MLA Sandra Overend said the path would improve safety for cyclists using the route, and encourage more people to cycle to and from the Park and Ride on their daily commute.

Sinn Fein MLA Ian Milne said not only would the path give added safety to current cyclists, but it may also encourage others to take up the bike, especially those who commute from the town.
