The Chairman of the Leisure Services Committee, Cllr David Archer, said: "Wallace Park is very popular and the Council will endeavour to see the completion of this project as soon as possible."

A spokesperson for the Council said: "Council Officers are assessing the extent of the work required to complete the play area at the current time. At this stage the Council is not able to provide any further information."

The delay will come as a big blow with the new play area eagerly anticipated.

It has replaced the older equipment with approximately three times the amount of play, including spectacular six metre high towers with tube slides, zip-lines and swings.
