Work is set to start at Lisnaree Road junction

THE news that roadworks are set to begin at an accident hotspot in Rathfriland has been welcomed by South Down MP Margaret Ritchie.

Following site meetings and representations to Roads Service the SDLP leader said she had received confirmation from Roads Service that work is due to begin on the Rathfriland Road, Lisnaree Road Junction in the current financial year.

“Having visited the site on a number of occasions and used the road many times I was all to aware of the hazards for drivers at this location,” said Ms Ritchie.

“I am pleased that improvements in road safety are on there way for local residents and I look forward to the completion of this work.”

The MP added that Roads Service has also agreed to repair some minor defects on the Lisnaree road in the near future and plan to surface dress the road next summer.
