Work starts at Avenue Rd junction

The scheme was announced by Transport Minister Danny Kennedy and is scheduled to be carried out over the next six weeks - with a completion date dependent on weather conditions.

Minister Kennedy said: “The work will see improved facilities for pedestrians, better coordination of the junction and improved safety for all road users.”

“Working in an urban area at a complex junction such as this presents many challenges and we would ask for the cooperation and patience of the public whilst the improvements are being implemented.”

Delays are likely given the volume of traffic using this junction, he added.
